Lathe for Mac · waitlist open

Make something real.

Describe the thing you want to build. Lathe drafts the parts, the circuit and the code, right on your Mac.

“A six-axis robot arm for my workbench”

DescribeDesignMake

A sketch on a napkin. A ‘what if’ on the walk home. Lathe is a place to work out the parts, the circuit and the code. And see how far an idea can go.

Start a conversation.
Work through the build.

A desk sensor, from the first brief to the files you take to your bench.

  1. Start with what it should do

Describe the job, the parts you have and the space they need to fit.

    The brief

“A desk sensor. USB powered, with a printed case.”

  2. Make room for the details

Inspect the model, trace a connection and review the code beside the conversation.

    The next revision

“Make the lid removable so I can get to the board.”

  3. Take it to the workbench

Save the project, export the parts and bring the source files into your own tools.

    The handoff

Enclosure. Board files. Firmware. Build guide.

The model. The circuit.
The code that connects them.

A case is only part of a sensor. Work through its shape, connections, board and firmware with the whole project in view.

Give the electronics a home

Inspect the enclosure, lid and board together before exporting the parts.

Your project.
In the formats you need.

CAD, a slicer, your code editor or the workbench. Take the right files to the next step.

From the model to your workbench

Keep editing a solid in CAD, or take an enclosure and lid into your slicer.

  • custom-part.stepEditable solid
  • enclosure-body.3mfGeometry + color
  • enclosure-lid.stlTriangle mesh

STEP needs a solid part or preserved analytic surface. 3MF retains intended color; choose printer and filament settings in your slicer.

A few things
to know.

Is Lathe available yet?

Lathe for Mac is coming soon. Join the waitlist and we’ll let you know when it’s ready.

Where do my projects live?

Your project files are saved locally on your Mac. AI features may send relevant project context to the assistant service.

What can I take into my other tools?

Export STEP, STL and 3MF parts, firmware source, CSV parts and wiring lists, and printable HTML build guides. Native KiCad files and JLCPCB or PCBWay order packages are available after a current, passing board check. See formats and requirements.

Can I save the whole project?

Yes. A .workbench package keeps the editable project, conversations, notes and firmware together. You can also export structured JSON or a review package with the available design files and recorded checks.

What will Lathe cost?

The planned Free tier includes the design workspace, monthly AI capacity, and High reasoning. Plus and Pro add more capacity, GPT-6.1 Sol, and Extra High reasoning. See plan previews.
